Terms of Service
Effective date: 11 September 2026. These terms are an agreement between you and Tommy Riise Handeland, Norway (“we”, “us”), for the iTems apps, the iTems web app, iTems accounts, iTems Cloud, receipt delivery from connected stores and the website items-home.com (together, “iTems”). By creating an account or using iTems you accept them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and is part of this agreement.
1. Who can use iTems
You must be at least 13 years old to create an iTems account, or older where your country requires it. If you use iTems on behalf of a household, business or other organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for it.
2. The apps and Apple’s standard licence
The iTems apps you download from the App Store are licensed, not sold, to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). The Standard EULA governs your licence to the app itself; these terms govern everything else — your account, iTems Cloud and the services behind the app. If the two conflict about the app licence, the Standard EULA applies.
Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for iTems or for supporting it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of the Standard EULA and may enforce it against you.
The web app and the website are provided under these terms. You may use them for your own, lawful purposes and may not copy, resell, reverse-engineer or interfere with them.
3. Your account
Give accurate contact details and keep them current; we use them to sign you in, to reach you, and to deliver receipts from connected stores.
Keep your password and two-factor codes to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account until you tell us it has been compromised.
One person per account. You may sign in on as many of your own devices as you like.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, is used for abuse or fraud, or has not been used for a long time — in the last case only after warning you by email.
4. Your content
Everything you record in iTems — items, photos, receipts, documents, notes, lists — is yours. We claim no ownership of it. So that iTems can work, you give us permission to store, copy, transmit, process and display your content to the extent needed to provide the service to you and to the people you share with. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backup copies that are overwritten within 30 days.
You are responsible for your content. Do not store content you have no right to store, content about other people you are not entitled to record, or anything unlawful. If someone claims your content violates their rights, we may remove it and will tell you why.
5. Sharing
When you share a collection, the people you invite can see it, and if you give them edit rights, change it. They see your name and profile picture and the collection’s activity log shows who did what. You are responsible for whom you invite. Members can leave, owners can remove members, and either can report abuse to us from within the app. We may remove content and end sharing that is reported and violates these terms.
6. iTems Cloud, PRO and payment
iTems is free to use on your device. Some features and cloud storage beyond the included amount require a PRO or iTems Cloud subscription. What each plan includes is shown in the app and on items-home.com and may change over time; we do not reduce what an active subscription includes during its paid period.
Subscriptions bought in the app are sold by Apple through the App Store, renew automatically until cancelled, and are managed, cancelled and refunded through your Apple ID subscription settings under Apple’s terms. We cannot cancel or refund an App Store subscription for you.
Subscriptions bought on the web are processed by Stripe, renew automatically until cancelled, and can be cancelled from your iTems account or by writing to us. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
Prices may change. For an active subscription, a price change only applies from the next renewal, and you are told in advance in accordance with App Store rules or by email.
Storage is measured against your plan’s quota. When it is full, new uploads are refused until you free space or upgrade. Nothing is deleted because a quota is reached.
If a subscription lapses, your data remains and stays accessible on your devices; cloud features and storage above the included amount become read-only until you subscribe again or reduce usage.
Consumers in the EU/EEA have a 14-day right of withdrawal on web purchases; by starting the subscription immediately you agree that the right lapses for the period already delivered.
7. AI features
Receipt scanning, product identification, bulk capture, specifications, maintenance advice and warranty estimates are produced by AI models. They can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Always check the result before you rely on it — in particular purchase details, warranty periods and anything you use for insurance or resale. AI features are provided as-is and may be changed, rate-limited or withdrawn.
8. Receipts from connected stores
Stores that integrate with iTems can send digital receipts to the contact details you gave them. We deliver a receipt to your account when it matches a verified email address or phone number on it. The receipt is the store’s document; questions about its content, returns or warranties go to the store. We do not guarantee that every receipt a store sends will be delivered, and we are not a party to your purchase.
Stores and developers who connect to iTems are responsible for having their customers’ permission to send receipts, for the content of the receipts they send, and for using the receipt API only for that purpose.
9. Beta software
Beta versions of iTems are pre-release software. They may be unstable, change without notice, and in rare cases lose data. Keep backups of anything you cannot afford to lose, and do not rely on a beta for anything important.
10. Availability and changes
We work to keep iTems available but do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change, add or remove features and may stop providing iTems or parts of it. If we discontinue a paid feature we refund the unused part of an active subscription, or Apple does for App Store purchases. For changes that reduce what you get, we give you reasonable notice in the app or by email.
11. Ending the agreement
You can stop using iTems at any time and delete your account in Settings. Deleting the account deletes your iTems Cloud data immediately; data on your devices is yours to keep or delete. Export your data first if you want a copy — Settings offers a full export. We may end the agreement if you materially breach it, with notice unless the breach makes that impossible.
12. Intellectual property and feedback
iTems, its software, design, texts and trademarks belong to us or our licensors. Product images found through search belong to their respective owners. If you send us ideas or feedback you allow us to use them without obligation to you.
13. Warranty and liability
iTems is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these terms, and we are not liable for indirect losses, lost profits, or loss of data that you could have prevented with the export and backup options iTems offers. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for iTems in the twelve months before the claim, or 1 000 NOK if you paid nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability for gross negligence or intent, or limits rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law, including the Norwegian Consumer Purchases Act and the EU digital content rules.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes are settled by the courts of Norway; if you are a consumer you may also bring a claim in your own country of residence, and may use the Norwegian Consumer Authority (Forbrukertilsynet) or the EU online dispute resolution platform. We prefer to solve things directly — write to us first.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we change the effective date above and, for changes that affect you materially, tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use iTems after that date means you accept the new terms; if you do not, delete your account before the date.
